AI has already shown some strange demos, and it’s only going to get weirder. As the tech world lurches screaming into the uncanny valley, the lines blur and everything gets weirder.
Take Wednesday’s Meta Connect keynote, for example: There were constant demos of Meta AI and Llama throughout the event, but one demo stood out as especially odd.
Mark Zuckerberg invited creator Don Allen Stevenson III onto the stage, where the Meta CEO picked up the phone and began talking to the AI-generated Stevenson, while the real Stevenson stood between him and him on the big screen.

The demo showcased AI Studio, a platform for designing custom chatbots. The program, which opened to all U.S. creators in July, initially started out as text-only. Wednesday’s event, meanwhile, showcased how creators can essentially create virtual versions of themselves.
“If I’m getting a ton of direct messages and I don’t have time to respond, Creator AI answers a lot of my most common questions,” Stevenson said of how she uses the platform. “It saves me time. It gives me time to go outside and take a break.”
Meta ran this demo during the same presentation that featured chatbots voiced by Awkwafina, Judi Dench, John Cena, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kristen Bell. This is where things get even weirder.
