David Crawford, Chairman of Bain & Company’s Global Technology and Cloud Services Practice, joins Market Domination to discuss the potential impact of AI on the labor market and the software sector.
Crawford believes that AI “offers an opportunity to make people more productive.” He continued, “I’m an optimist. I’ve been in the Valley a long time and I’ve seen some of these technological disruptions, and just about everyone had doomsday prophecies. In fact, I think it allows people to find new and higher value.” We continue to work, but there may be some disruption along the way. ”
While some investors are concerned about the future of the software sector given the emergence of generative AI, Crawford believes it presents a “pretty big opportunity” as well as a threat. “The ability to accelerate the pace of software development is extraordinary, both for software companies themselves and for companies that do some level of software coding in-house,” he explains.
“To get value out of this, you have to get people to work differently. To do that, you need a business diagnostic change program and all the things you have to do to get value out of this.” It’s a cloud where you can get value just by deploying the technology.” Crawford added.
