Apple’s new artificial intelligence tools are here. The company is currently working to increase customer understanding.
The Cupertino, California-based technology giant on Wednesday began offering 15-minute briefings to customers at hundreds of retail stores across the United States about its new suite of AI tools, called Apple Intelligence. This helps iPhone users compose emails faster and compose new emails. Remove emojis and remove ex-lovers from photos.
Apple Intelligence is a key feature of Apple’s latest operating system, and the company hopes it will encourage more customers to upgrade and buy more devices. This new feature has been featured prominently in recent ads for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, including during the World Series.
AI tools have been widely available to the public for some time, but putting them directly into the hands of loyal Apple users could significantly accelerate mainstream adoption of this technology. However, this feature may be difficult to master for some users, so Apple Store employees are tasked with explaining it to customers.
The first set of new tools is available with the latest operating system update and works on Macs with iPhone 15 Pro, iPad A17 Pro or M1, M1 and newer models.
“One of the problems with new tools like Apple Intelligence is getting people to try it in the first place,” said Rob Enderle, principal analyst at advisory services firm Enderle Group. “We tend to be creatures of habit and, especially as we get older, we don’t dabble in new and different things. So getting people to use a tool is important because it’s a good tool. This will be an important part of actually verifying whether or not there is.โ
Here are some of the key features of Apple Intelligence that The Times demonstrated:
Communication support
New AI tools help iPhone, Mac, and iPad users proofread and compose messages.
For example, if an iPhone user is planning a sushi gathering at home, they can enter a few blurbs that describe the time and location of the event, and Apple Intelligence will help create the perfect invitation.
Apple Intelligence helps users change the tone of their messages, whether they want to make them more friendly or professional.
The technology can also flag questions in emails that the user didn’t answer, summarize notes, and prioritize time-sensitive messages, such as when a delivery arrives, so the technology can Your notes won’t get lost in your inbox.
Edit memory, delete exe
AI tools allow users to more easily find specific photos in their library, enter a description and create short videos to relive memories. For example, if a mother types “Hannah and Rabbit Over the Years,” the software will generate a slideshow compilation video with music from her photo library.
Apple Intelligence also has photo editing tools within the Photos app that allow users to remove unwanted objects or people in a photo by tapping, brushing off, or circling the image. This allows users to remove selfie sticks, photo bombers, and even ex-boyfriends and girlfriends from photos.
Siri getting smarter?
With updated tools, Apple’s voice command system Siri will be able to better detect your questions, even if you stumble over the words. Users can choose to speak or type a question to Siri.
For example, someone might say to Siri, “Set an alarm โ oh, wait โ set a timer for 10 minutes. Actually, I just thought about it, and I think you can probably do it in about 5 minutes. In theory, the software would be able to figure out what the nasty person meant.
Emoji on demand
Apple Intelligence also allows users to create their own customized emojis to use as stickers and reactions in text messages. For example, a user can enter a description such as “shrimp in a cowboy hat” and receive a corresponding emoji to communicate with.
Apple said more Apple Intelligence tools will be released in December, including a tool to create emoji-like images based on photos of friends and family, and an option to access ChatGPT through Siri.
