LinkedIn has released its seventh annual list of top Indian startups, showcasing Indian startups based on data from the professional social networking site.
The report comes amid a booming environment for entrepreneurs — in fact, India has the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world, according to the government’s official website, Startup India.
“As of 2022, India will have the second-highest number of unicorns after the United States and surpassed China in 2020,” according to a report released in August by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.
Further, the report noted that the number of startups in India is set to grow by 71.5% from around 20,000 in 2021 to more than 34,000 by 2023.
The list was compiled using LinkedIn data collected over a period of one year, tracking employment growth, engagement, job interest and talent attraction. Only companies headquartered in India, fully independent, privately held, with more than 50 full-time employees and up to five years old were included.

This year, “most of the startups in the top 10 are software and technology companies, demonstrating their dominance in the sector,” Nirajta Banerjee, editor-in-chief and career expert at LinkedIn India, told CNBC Make It, pointing out companies like Zepto, Sprint and Lucidity which made the top three.
“These companies are not just growing rapidly and garnering attention from investors and job seekers, they are also building innovative solutions that will shape the future of their industries,” the report, released Wednesday, said.
Moreover, four of this year’s top 10 startups are headquartered in Bengaluru, strengthening the city’s position as a global startup hub.
“While Bengaluru continues to be India’s ‘Silicon Valley’, it is diversifying with start-ups emerging from tier-2 cities such as Indore and Pune,” Banerjee added.
