SINGAPORE – Singapore’s TikTok has launched its first-ever #JobTok education live stream series. This is a line-up of programming aimed at equipping young people aspiring to pursue a career in technology with knowledge of future jobs and skill sets in the industry, helping them build their future careers. The educational series will run from March 31 to April 6, 2021, and will be a hybrid broadcast, with one streamed on TikTok Live itself and on Facebook, and the other streamed on Zoom.
TikTok has invited homegrown technology talent from TikTok itself and the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) to lead livestreams, talk about their exciting experiences working in the tech sector, and debunk some of the commonly held myths about the profession. The first in our education series is “Women’s Leadership in Technology.” This is a virtual grassroots dialogue session, hosted by Member of Parliament (MP) Tin Pei Ling and women leaders from ByteDance Singapore, to discuss how women can thrive. Singaporeans can thrive in technology and innovation, as well as enjoy exciting employment opportunities and career prospects in the rapidly growing post-COVID-19 digital economy.
The education series includes ‘Adulting Advice From Young GovTechies’ on March 31st at 8pm (Singapore time) and ‘The Faces Behind TikTok’ on April 6th at 8pm (Singapore time). LIVE” is also included.
The virtual conversation with MP Tin will be streamed on Zoom and MP Tin’s Facebook page on 31 March 2021 at 7:30pm SGT. The rest of the #JobTok education series will be broadcast live on the TikTok app from March 31 to April 6, 2021.
In addition to the series itself, TikTok will also be launching an #Adulting contest. The contest asks users to share personal tips for young people entering the workforce, including interview tips, internship experiences, and how to write your first job. The contest will run from March 31 to April 4, and participants will have a chance to win prizes worth approximately S$1,200 in total.
