Five Startup Battlefield finalists announced
Five Startup Battlefield finalists were chosen from a pool of 200 companies selected from thousands of applicants and given another chance to pitch on the Disrupt Stage at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time . Based on that offer, you will be selected as the winner of Battlefield and receive a non-stock prize of $100,000 and the Disrupt Cup.
For a complete overview of the five winners, please see here. However, here is a quick TL;DR for each company.
Gecko Materials: Inspired by the way real-life gecko feet grip surfaces, Gecko’s adhesive is unique, except it only requires one side, leaves no residue, and is just as easy to remove as it was attached. It’s like new Velcro.
Luna: A health and wellness app for teenage girls designed to help them navigate their teenage years. This app allows youth to ask questions about their health and wellness and get answers from experts.
MabLab: For people who party or go dancing, the risk of ingesting accidentally laced drugs is real. MabLab has created a test strip that detects five of the most common and dangerous additives in minutes.
Salva: Valentina Agudelo recognized the alarming gap in breast cancer survival rates between Latin America and developed countries. So she and her two best friends decided to create a theoretical portable device that could detect breast cancer early.
Stitch3D: A U.S. Army veteran found that large 3D files created with LIDAR were unwieldy for most use cases, so he created a browser-based Stitch3D that lets him view, share, annotate, interact with, and manage large 3D. It prompted the launch of the platform Strict3D. file.
