From an interview with Hatia Buniatishvili by Christian Berzins:
Do you think art will fundamentally change during this century? Do you think AI will perform more beautifully than humans?
No, the AI cannot play better.
Why not?
Because art is part of being human. Humans created art to survive. Humans leave this world at the end of their lives, and this knowledge tears them apart. Human beings created things like themselves out of their imagination. Art is the most human of all things. It contains human imperfections and will outlast us. Humans don’t just want to eat, work, sleep, and die. They want more than that.
So, can AI not create art?
Beethoven’s unfinished 10th Symphony has been completed using artificial intelligence. That wasn’t Beethoven (lol). It’s like love. Would you like to date an artificial intelligence? perhaps. But it will never be the same between the two of them. To me that is unthinkable, and that is why I say I am a man of the 20th century. To me it’s the end of humanity. Art is part of humanity.
