About John Caplan
John Caplan is CEO and Director of Payoneer. He is a business owner, investor, and entrepreneur with a proven track record of scaling companies in the digital economy. Previously, he served as president of North America and Europe at Alibaba.com, the cross-border B2B business division of Alibaba Group. In this role, he helped lead the transformation of Alibaba Group into one of the fastest growing and most profitable business units. Mr. Caplan joined Alibaba’s team in 2017 after acquiring OpenSky, an SMB software platform he founded in 2009. This allows e-commerce SMBs to optimize distribution across markets. Mr. Caplan also previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Ford Models, a fashion talent agency, and CMO of About.com, an Internet publishing business. Mr. Caplan holds a BA in English from the University of Rochester (1991).
