The OSCE Transnational Threats Division has been organizing a series of activities throughout October to promote cybersecurity good practices and general cyber hygiene, as part of the OSCE’s contribution to Global Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Ta.
This year’s activity, the OSCE’s fifth participation in the global initiative, was an opportunity to raise awareness of the OSCE’s Cyber/ICT Security Confidence Building Measures (CBM) and discuss emerging cyberspace issues. This includes social media campaigns, webinars with prominent international experts, and the publication of a new OSCE Cyber/ICT Security Factsheet.
This activity aligns with the Malta OSCE Chair’s priorities on cyber/ICT security, from comprehensively strengthening resilience to cyber threats and supporting the implementation of related CBM, to strengthening the OSCE’s women, peace and security agenda. We supported the matter.
The first webinar focused on the impact of artificial intelligence on relations between nations in cyberspace. Speakers explored the intersection of artificial intelligence and diplomacy, cybersecurity, and international relations, and discussed current and potential challenges for AI in these areas.
The second webinar introduced the National Cybersecurity Awareness Platform and highlighted the important role of national initiatives in promoting good cybersecurity practices and ensuring better cyber resilience. Speakers shared effective strategies to actively engage the public and promote personal responsibility.
The third webinar explored how to better incorporate gender considerations into cyber capacity building and address gender dynamics in cybersecurity to create inclusive policies and practices. Speakers offered several recommendations, including setting gender markers for projects, fostering cross-sector stakeholder collaboration, and creating concrete tools for education, training, and early mentoring. .
The 2024 OSCE Cybersecurity Awareness Month activities were conducted as part of the United States-funded “Activities and Customized Support for the Implementation of OSCE Cyber/ICT Security Confidence-Building Measures” project.
