HOUGHTON, MI – It’s the last home weekend of the regular season for the Michigan Technological University football team, which will play Senior Day against Purdue Northwest on Friday at 5 p.m., and then against Roosevelt on Sunday at noon.
After Sunday’s competition, seniors Molly Bolang, Emily Clayton, Jordan Noble, Taylor Noble, Julia Pietila and Ella Roach will be recognized.

Purdue Northwest has enjoyed success under third-year head coach Mary Whistler, currently 6-1-5 in the GLIAC and 9th in the Midwest Region with an overall record of 3-1-4. located.
Pride has scored 15 goals this season, averaging 11.1 shots on goal and 1.25 goals against. Senior forward Amaris Gonzalez paced the offense with four goals and one assist. Emma Carter also joined her in multiple scoring this season with two goals and two assists. Garcia Yoselin tied for second in the GLIAC with five assists, and Addison Thomas added four assists.
Sophomore goaltender Meta Fisher took 103 shots and had 42 saves and five shutouts for a 5-1-4 career record. She is averaging 4.2 saves per game and has a save percentage of .857.
The Pride won their first game against the Huskies, 2-1, on September 27 in Hammond, Indiana.
About the Lakers
Roosevelt advanced to UP on a three-game losing streak with an overall record of 0 wins, 8 losses, and 4 draws in the Loop.
The Lakers had back-to-back scoreless draws against GLIAC at Parkside (October 4) and Purdue Northwest (October 11) before dropping their final three games. Despite the loss, Roosevelt scored in two of three games, doubling his league point total. Senior midfielder Macias Paola leads the Lakers’ offense this season with two goals and one assist, along with a team-leading 10 shots on goal.
Junior goaltender Roxy Herrera has started all 12 games for the Lakers this season and has a .721 save percentage on 250 shots and 80 saves, which ranks first in the GLIAC and in the nation. It is ranked 25th.
Michigan Tech won the season’s first tournament, 6-0, on Sept. 29 in Arlington Heights.

With five games remaining in the regular season, Michigan Tech has an overall record of 4-8 in the loop and 2-7 overall.
The Huskies are allowing 13.3 shots on goal and 1.08 goals per game, taking nearly twice as many corner kicks as their opponents (68-36). The Black & Gold average a 5.67 corner kick percentage, which ranks second in the league and in the top 50 nationally.
Senior forward Julia Pietila has a team-leading six goals and one assist and ranks third in the GLIAC with 13 points. Her six points and two wins rank second in the league.
Goaltender Bry Burrows started 11 games for MTU this season and made 44 saves while posting a .772 save percentage and 90 shots on goal. She has a combined record of 4-7 with three shutouts.

The Huskies won 6-0 in their first game against Roosevelt in their first year as members of the GLIAC, marking their highest point total in the last three seasons. Five players scored goals in the win, led by Pietila, who had two goals and one assist. Kielsen Korinek, Brooke Green, Taylor Noble and Molly Bolang contributed to the win with goals.
