Microsoft is looking to make life a little easier for Xbox gamers, as the tech giant’s gaming division has announced plans to combine Xbox Game Pass and the Xbox mobile app into one convenient application in the near future.
The company announced this week that it’s testing a new version of the Xbox app for iOS and Android that integrates key features from the Xbox Game Pass app.
“These updates are currently available to mobile Xbox Beta members and will be available to all users shortly. As part of these changes, new downloads of the Xbox Game Pass app will no longer be supported after November,” Xbox said.
What a Single Xbox App Can Do for Gamers
This integration allows gamers to browse and access the entire Game Pass library and manage their membership directly within the Xbox app, and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also have the convenience of claiming their rewards right within this streamlined app.
Currently, gamers have access to features like social chat, game capture, playing/installing games on the console, receiving notifications about game updates and offers, etc. With the merger, gamers will also be able to check their Game Pass membership, browse the game catalogue, and view and claim their offers.
“Game Pass Ultimate members can also stream select games through Xbox Cloud Gaming on their iOS or Android device using a supported browser at xbox.com/play,” Xbox added.
The new unified Xbox app, available as part of the September update, will continue to give you all the functionality you need to stay connected with friends, receive game updates, socialize, track achievements and game stats, and more.
