The Utah Entrepreneur Challenge (UEC) is a statewide student business competition sponsored by the Lassonde Entrepreneurial Institute at the University of Utah. Teams from universities across Utah will compete for the best student business and a chance to win $75,000 in cash and prizes. All Utah students affiliated with participating universities are eligible to apply. The Utah Entrepreneurship Challenge culminates with a final event at the University of Utah.
Participating teams will be judged by industry experts, experienced entrepreneurs, and community experts. The judges will allocate her $75,000 in cash and prizes to the top 20 finalists. Many past winners have gone on to become successful companies. The program is managed by the University of Utah’s Lassonde Institute for Entrepreneurship and sponsored by Zions Bank. Young students ages 14 to 18 are encouraged to participate in the Utah High School Entrepreneurship Challenge for a chance to win her $30,000 in prizes and scholarships.
The Utah Entrepreneurship Challenge consists of three parts: (1) business model submission, (2) video submission, and (3) final live presentation and interview at the UEC final event.
The top 20 teams from each participating school will be selected. Each school will review all relevant applications and nominate up to two student teams to participate in Rounds 2 and 3 of the UEC.
The Utah Entrepreneurship Challenge provides resources to help students create and run their businesses. Students gain valuable skills and experience that will help them transition into the competitive world of entrepreneurship. Dozens of teams that have competed in the past have progressed well and become successful businesses.
