Instagram owner Meta has announced that Dame Judi Dench and John Cena will appear as voice options for its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot.
Users can also get information from AI versions of Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kristen Bell.
The tech giant’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement at the company’s annual Connect conference.
At the event, Zuckerberg also unveiled the first working prototype of Meta’s Orion augmented reality glasses.
“We think voice will be a more natural way to interact with AI than text,” Zuckerberg said of the Meta AI update.
Other new features for chatbots like ChatGPT include the ability to recognize objects photographed by the user and provide information about them.
The image editing feature allows users to modify their photos by simply telling Meta AI what changes they would like to make.
According to the company, Meta AI is currently used by over 400 million people monthly, with 185 million of those using it weekly.
“A lot of people are saying this is the craziest technology they’ve ever seen,” Zuckerberg said while showing off Orion Glass.
Users will be able to interact with Orion through hand tracking, voice and wrist-based interfaces.
Meta has also announced an entry-level version of its Quest series of mixed reality headsets, with prices starting at $300 (£225) for the new Quest 3S.
Some of the world’s largest technology companies are developing AR glasses but have yet to release a commercially successful mass-market device.
In recent years, Meta has poured billions of dollars into developing AI, AR, and other metaverse technologies.
The company expects to spend a record $40 billion on new projects this year.
Prior to the event, Meta’s shares closed Wednesday trading at a record high of $568.31.
The company, which also owns social media platforms Facebook and WhatsApp, has seen its shares rise more than 60% so far this year.
