At InnoTrans 2024, Alstom and Airbus Protect achieved a major milestone in their ongoing partnership to strengthen cybersecurity in the rail sector.
Since signing a global cooperation agreement in September 2021, the two companies have made significant progress in developing and testing a comprehensive risk assessment methodology specific to rail transport. This development is aimed at protecting the security of rail infrastructure against growing cyber threats.

Through their partnership, Alstom and Airbus Protect have developed a robust risk assessment framework designed to protect the rail industry from growing cyber risks.
Eddie Tessey, Vice President of Digital and Cybersecurity at Alstom said:
“With cyber risks increasing in all sectors, Alstom is committed to protecting its customers’ rail assets. Our collaboration with Airbus Protect ensures the continued success of green mobility around the world.”
The newly developed risk assessment methodology has been successfully tested in the field and will now be implemented across Alstom’s projects.
The methodology has been integrated into Airbus Protect’s risk assessment tool, Fence, providing Alstom with a centralized risk database, allowing risk assessments to be reused across multiple projects while enabling more efficient management of the knowledge base and permissions.
This unified approach will enable Alstom to effectively address customer requirements regarding the EBIOS RM risk management framework, the IEC 62443 international standard and the CLC/TS 50701 technical specifications.
Standardizing risk assessments across the organisation will not only improve efficiency but also strengthen Alstom’s ability to protect critical rail infrastructure.
