Hyundai Mobis has become the first Asian auto parts manufacturer to receive cybersecurity certification in Europe, a leading country in establishing automotive security standards.
Hyundai Mobis announced on Thursday that it held a cybersecurity certification ceremony at its technology center in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, with the attendance of ENX Association officials.
ENX is an association of European automakers and component suppliers, including Daimler, Volkswagen, BMW and Bosch, and hosts the Vehicle Cybersecurity Certification (VCS) program.
ENX explained that the certification means that Hyundai Mobis’ core products are compliant with European automotive cybersecurity legislation, and that the company has the procedures and systems in place to ensure this.
Security certification covers everything from product design to evaluation, quality, manufacturing and post-manufacturing management.
Europe has already made cybersecurity certification mandatory for all vehicles released after July of this year.
Since 2020, Hyundai Mobis has established a cybersecurity organization and has been evolving its automotive cybersecurity management system (CSMS).
“Cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important in the future automotive industry, which is often referred to as a smartphone on wheels. We will strengthen our capabilities to efficiently comply with regulations and standards not only in Europe but also in other regions,” said a Hyundai Mobis official.
