After years of being nearly impossible to get a PlayStation 5, Sony is finally releasing the PlayStation 5 Pro with a more powerful graphics processor, better AI upscaling, and a whole lot more storage, with a higher price to match. But if you want to get it at launch, you might have to put in some effort.
It’s no secret at this point that scalpers are armed to the teeth with tools that allow them to figuratively grab dozens of PS5s before you even click the buy button, and there’s little reason to expect the launch of this new console to be any different (even though its $700 price tag makes it one of the most expensive consoles ever). When do pre-orders begin?

Pre-orders for the new PlayStation 5, as well as the very limited 30th anniversary PS5 Pro model designed to be reminiscent of the original PlayStation, will open in stages. The PlayStation Direct website will take pre-orders first, followed by other retailers in the weeks following. Key dates are:
