Micro-entrepreneurs are indeed the backbone of the economy, employing over 10.76 billion people and contributing significantly to the country’s gross domestic product. Therefore, the efforts of entrepreneurs are essential to propel the country’s economic aspirations, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Erode Zone Chairman D. Shanmugasundaram said here on Thursday.
CII recently launched the Center of Excellence in Employment and Livelihoods (CII CEL) with an aim to transform India’s micro-enterprise environment and establish itself as a transformative force in India. The Center announced a project ‘Puthiya Payanam’ under which CII will support existing micro-entrepreneurs and create new ones in the state. Under the project, a two-day training on business and financial excellence for entrepreneurs was held at Kongu Institute of Technology, Perundurai, with the participation of 40 entrepreneurs from the district.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Shanmugasundaram said the training and resources gained by the entrepreneurs strengthened their business acumen and set them up for great success. He asked them to utilize the knowledge they gained during the training, as the days were full of opportunities that required resilience and innovation. “If you want to achieve it, you have to work towards it. It’s all in your mind. If you set a goal and work towards it, you will achieve it,” he said.
The Chairperson said the trained entrepreneurs will be inducted as members of the CII CEL Micro-Entrepreneurship Forum, which will help them discuss the challenges they face with a vibrant community that will uplift and guide them. Ta. He said they will have the opportunity to interact with leaders and receive guidance.
Mr. KM Shanmugaperumal, Convenor of MSME and Manufacturing Panel, CII Erode Zone, reflected on his personal experience and explained how his dream of becoming an entrepreneur came true.
