DJI’s new Osmo Action 5 Pro has arrived to compete with the new GoPro Hero 13 Black. The company’s latest action camera is smaller, lighter, has 47 GB of built-in storage, and has battery life that GoPro owners can only dream of.
Throw in a new high-resolution image sensor, improved low-light capabilities, subject tracking, and out-of-the-box support for the DJI Mic 2 wireless microphone, and you’ve got a camera that’s not only capable of taking shots, but great. However, the battery life allows you to continue taking shots long after the competition is over.
go longer
Osmo Action 5 Pro stands out from other action cameras on the market in terms of battery life. It can shoot for well over two hours at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, which is the longest run time of any action camera I’ve ever tested (and have tested a lot). I mention this in the first place because what is often overlooked in reviews and spec comparisons is the simple fact that any footage is better than no footage.

To give you a specific example, I don’t like the Osmo Action 5 Pro’s color rendering in 10-bit standard color mode, but I’ll pass on that without using any footage. The GoPro Hero 13 will give you just that. After the 1 hour and 45 minute recording mark, the battery dies and the camera shuts off. Battery life is important, and for action cameras, considering everything else is very similar (sensor, stabilization, ergonomics), battery life is the most important factor in getting the shot you want. There is a possibility that
Osmo’s camera design remains unchanged. The body has a light texture, making it easy to hold. It also retains the same size and magnetic attachment system. (I always like that the Action series cages can be mounted both vertically and horizontally.) I don’t have any accessories other than some neutral density (ND) filters, but they fit the Action 4 Everything you do should continue to work. And what about a better battery? Backwards compatible with Action 4.
