Passengers will be taken on a suborbital flight, and the rocket will reach outer space.

Beijing:

Chinese startup Deep Blue Aerospace on Thursday sold the first two tickets for seats on a rocket that will take passengers to space in 2027, paying 1.5 million yuan ($211,000) for the experience. announced that it would charge for

Deep Blue Aerospace will go on sale at 6pm (10am GMT) with more tickets on sale next month. Passengers will be taken on a suborbital flight, meaning the rocket will reach space but not enter orbit.

The commercial passenger aviation industry is in its infancy, with US companies such as Blue Origin and SpaceX leading the way in the early stages.

Deep Blue Aerospace said reusable rockets are essential to reducing the high launch costs that hinder large-scale commercialization of space travel. The company said it plans to retrieve the carrier rocket from orbit in the first quarter of 2025.

Other Chinese companies have also announced plans to enter the space tourism field. In May, state-backed CAS Space announced it would begin space tourism flights by 2028.
